The many uses of the amber LED light |
|

Who would have thought that a single piece of kit would have so wide a range of applications? As soon as amber became the internationally recognised signal colour for ※be aware§, the amber led light must have become the most widely used, widely sold and frequently bought form of illumination in the world. They*re everywhere, when one thinks about it. Amber flashing lights crop up on motorways; construction sites; on site vehicles; on road cone lanterns; on director bars. Anything that needs to call the attention of the motorist or passer by quickly and efficiently: an amber flashing light. These days, of course, the bulbs used in all those ※attention please§ applications are a lot more environmentally friendly than they used to be. The amber led light has replaced the old fashioned flash bulb, which required a pretty enormous amount of alternating power to keep it flicking on and off. led illuminators use almost no power and have an excellent usable life 每 just as well in an industry as bedevilled by environmental legislation and quotas as any on the planet. As with everything really useful (and where would one be, without construction, for example), one is damned if one does and damned if one does not 每 use fewer orange lights and everyone starts yelling about road safety, the safety of workers and passers by alike; but use as many as one needs and the same people start shouting about energy consumption. It*s what is known as an insoluble problem, a Gordian know 每 or at least it was, until the amber led light came along and sorted everything out. Now a construction company or a law enforcement agency can use as many orange flashing things as they like without so much as a batted eye lid. Sourcing good quality amber LEDs is more than easy, thanks to the good old Internet. Sights like Dun Bri, which makes a specialty out of sourcing commercial quality vehicle and site lighting of all kinds, are able to pass on excellent prices to their clients because they can source the amber led light at proper trade prices from good suppliers. Dun Bri alone appears to have pretty much every type, size and shape of amber led ever to have been made. With five pages of results, from directional hazard bars to vehicle mounted dot lights, there*s an amber lighting solution for every imaginable application. At least now these things are all LED; the number of bulbs they go through per annum has dropped. Before the amber light was led there must have been hundreds of millions of amber bulbs going pop every year. Now the watchword is on quantity of applications rather than number of bulbs 每 the amber led light, which is made up of hundreds of tiny orange diodes, can be used to make recognisable shapes, like arrows and words. That*s ideal for directing traffic and pedestrians in neat, efficient packages. Cost effective, too 每 in the past, huge boards of orange bulbs had to be made to order. Now, the amber led takes care of business perfectly well itself.
