Can led-powered lightboxes overheat?
For indoor LED backlit display lightboxes, there are so many factors that contribute to adequate heat dissipation. Below we've included a list just to name a few that include:

•Height from floor
•Distance from walls, windows and pillars
•Color of frame
•UV inhibitor in window glass (different windows have different levels/compositions),
•Single vs. dual or triple-pane windows,
•Other nearby electrical appliances/lighting and/or ducting,
•Space HVAC, including how close are the lightboxes to a vent and/or direct air flow,
•Direction of sunlight (angle vs. straight-on),
•Hours per day of operation,
•Thickness and composition of the backlit graphic film (aka Duratrans)

Sometimes just lowering a lightbox a few inches and moving it back away from the window can have the triple-benefit of:

[a] Moving it into a cooler "strata" of room air

[b] Increasing distance from overhead soffit to promote better air flow

[c] Increasing distance from window-borne heat.

All Blue River Digital's LED lightboxes, including the EdgeLyte Premium LED model generate relatively low heat the aluminum frame is designed to aid in heat dissipation as a built-in heat sink. So it's definitely conceivable that if the frame is not getting adequate air movement and/or space, it could overheat. On paper the operating temperature range is 50¡ã¨C80¡ãF but in practice it's a complex function of air volume, air movement, ambient temperature, and nearby heat generators.

If a power supply fails (whether or not the cause is excessive heat), replacement power supplies can be purchased for product that is out-of-warranty, but of course we would like to see your air space evaluated and if necessary, upgraded to mitigate recurrent overheating.

We almost never see LED lightboxes overheat but we don't want to represent that it's not possible. There are hundreds of thousands of LED lightboxes in service around the world and so if your installation is overheating, we would highly suspect your environment may be unusually warm, or else maybe there's a power conditioning problem or something else that's creating abnormal stress on your lightboxes. We have seen a random power supply fail here and there due to manufacturer defect (of course we buy power supplies pre-manufactured) and replacements are available, but you don't want to just replace it and have it fail again soon, so be sure to optimize the install site ahead of time, for cooler operation of your new LED lightboxes.
